Deadly Sunday Morning Wreck Prompts Police Inquiry [HENRICO, VA]

Deadly Sunday morning wreck prompts police inquiry after a tragic single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Highland Springs man on Interstate 64. According to a report from the Virginia State Police, the fatal accident occurred around 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, near the 200-mile marker on I-64 eastbound in Henrico County.

Preliminary investigations reveal that a 2008 Dodge sedan was traveling eastbound when it veered off the right side of the highway. The vehicle struck a ditch, continued moving through a grassy area, and collided with an overhead Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) sign on the driver’s side. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to spin uncontrollably before it came to rest in a nearby ditch on the right side of the roadway.

Henrico County Fire Department responded swiftly to the scene. Unfortunately, the driver, identified as 74-year-old John Alber Price of Highland Springs, VA, was pronounced dead at the scene just minutes later at 5:30 a.m. No other passengers were reported in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Authorities have confirmed that the Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the wreck. While the cause of the crash is still under review, such incidents often raise questions about road conditions, potential vehicle malfunctions, and whether external factors such as poor visibility or driver fatigue may have played a role.

At times like these, it’s not just about understanding what happened — it’s about ensuring that families receive the support they need if this crash involved any form of negligence, whether due to poor signage maintenance, road hazards, or a defective vehicle component, there may be grounds for compensation.

The Type of Compensation at Stake

In fatal accident cases like this, the surviving family members may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Compensation can include funeral and burial expenses, loss of income and support, loss of companionship, and emotional suffering. Additionally, if there is evidence of gross negligence or failure to maintain safe roadway conditions, punitive damages may also be awarded.

These types of claims are critical not only for helping families recover financially but also for holding responsible parties accountable. That’s where we come in.
