Woman in Critical Condition Following Vehicle Collision
A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Broad Street in Henrico County on New Year’s Eve. The incident occurred on December 31, 2024, and authorities are actively seeking the public’s help to identify the victim and notify her family.
At approximately 9:31 p.m. that evening, Henrico County Police and the Henrico County Division of Fire responded to the scene at the intersection of West Broad Street and Carousel Lane. Upon arrival, first responders found the woman unconscious after being hit while crossing the street. Police believe she was running west across West Broad Street when the collision took place.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with the authorities. Early investigations indicate that neither alcohol nor excessive speed were factors in the crash. Despite these factors, the woman’s condition remains severe, and she is currently receiving medical attention in the hospital.
The police have described the victim as a white woman, aged in her 20s, standing between 5 feet, 2 inches and 5 feet, 4 inches tall, with curly brown hair. She is said to weigh between 120 and 140 pounds and was wearing a black Carhartt sweatshirt and light blue Under Armour shoes at the time of the incident.
As of now, the authorities are urging anyone who may have information about the crash or the woman’s identity to come forward. This includes anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any details that could aid in identifying her.
As the woman continues her fight for life, the legal aspects surrounding the incident are also coming to the forefront. For victims like her, there are significant avenues for compensation that can help ease the financial burdens caused by such tragic events.
Victims of pedestrian accidents, particularly those who suffer severe injuries like this woman, can seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and emotional distress. Additionally, if the incident results in long-term disability or requires ongoing care, the compensation claims can be expanded to cover future medical treatment and care needs.
