Man Dies in Fatal Car Accident in Dinwiddie

A Petersburg man is dead following a tragic crash that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Dinwiddie County. Virginia State Police responded to the single-vehicle accident, which took place at approximately 3:39 p.m. on Depot Road (Route 644) near Asbury Road (Route 652). The crash left one man dead and another critically injured.

According to a preliminary investigation, the incident involved a 2020 Nissan Altima driven by 38-year-old Andre Hudson. Hudson was traveling northbound on Route 644 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road. The car struck multiple trees, causing significant damage. Hudson, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Sadly, 62-year-old Franklin Davis, a passenger in the front seat, was also not wearing a seatbelt. Due to the force of the crash, Davis was ejected from the vehicle and tragically died at the scene. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Davis could not be saved. The loss of his life in such a sudden and violent manner is devastating for his family and loved ones.

At this time, charges are pending, and the authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The Virginia State Police will determine whether any additional factors, such as speed, alcohol, or distracted driving, played a role in the accident.
