Man Arrested After Tractor-Trailer Driver Shot Dead in I-295 Crash

A fatal two-vehicle collision in Henrico on the evening of January 25 has tragically resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man. According to Henrico Police, the crash occurred just before 6 p.m. at Williamsburg Road (Rt. 60) and Whiteside Road. The incident involved two vehicles, a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Nissan Altima, which collided, leading to devastating consequences.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found both vehicles heavily damaged. The two occupants of the Chevrolet Tahoe, including the driver, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, the driver of the Nissan Altima, later identified as 21-year-old Justin Lee Butler Jr., sustained severe injuries and was taken to the hospital. Despite medical efforts, Mr. Butler tragically succumbed to his injuries, marking a heartbreaking loss for his family and loved ones.

The Henrico Police preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Butler was traveling westbound on Williamsburg Road when the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, who was traveling south on Whiteside Road, entered the intersection and struck the front side of Mr. Butler’s Nissan Altima. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine any contributing factors to the crash, including whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in this devastating collision.
